Our Members of the Month for July are Skye and Osa!

Skye

*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I am originally from Dedham and now live in Canton.

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
Mostly 9am and noon. With my schedule I am also a huge fan of open gym and you may see me pop into a rouge early morning or night class. My favorite part of being member at Craic is that the amazing amount of support, fun, and community connection there is. There is always someone there to make you smile and be right in the middle of the suck with you. The coaching is unbelievable, each and every one will go out of their way to encourage you and keep you on track. SugarWOD and BeforeTheWhiteBoard are life.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I am a Dedham Firefighter and also work for lululemon in Chestnut Hill. I have a degree in Graphic Design from Curry College and am currently finishing up my Fire Science degree at Massasoit. My husband works as a Tugboat Captain in the Gulf of Mexico and up the Mississippi River. Our cat is our fur baby, all 18 pounds of fat and fluff. He is orange and white and his name is Goose (Well, that his street name. His government name and the one he does his taxes under is Larry). As for my love of CrossFit that came about when I was living in Texas and teaching yoga at CFWest Houston. I found that both CrossFit + Yoga were perfect pairs to what my body needed.

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
I also almost peed my pants when I got my very first C2Bs during the Open this year and that wouldn’t have been possible thanks to all of the encouragement and spectacular coaching. I have also placed 2nd in two Olympic Lifting meets and I am ready for that #1 spot (see goals below!).

*Some current training goals are…
– Consistant chest to bar pull ups
– OHS of 175#
– Snatch of 130#
– Enter into an Olympic Lifting meet before the end of this year

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
Inhale. Exhale. F**k sh*t up.

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
Which way to the beach? 🙂

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?

*This month’s question is:  What would you do if you won the lottery?
Pay off all my student loans… dance a little jig… then pay off the rest of mine and my family’s debts. Sneak in there a hefty annual donation to every single local animal shelter, and a trip to Hawaii, and I’d be a happy clam!

*What do the coaches say about Skye?
Skye is a leader amongst leaders, whether that be in class, at lululemon, or at the fire house. She’s always looking out for the best interests of everyone around her. To say that Skye is kind is an understatement! She’s one of the nicest humans there is! Skye also knows herself as an athlete so well and knows how to listen to her body and do yoga, do CrossFit, push herself, back off, have fun, etc. It’s an amazing quality! We love having you at Craic, Skye!

Osa

*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I was born in Nigeria, but grew up in Brooklyn, New York (GO YANKEES!).

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
You can always catch me at the 7:30pm class. My favorite part of being a member at Craic is the motivation and encouragement I get from the coaches and my fellow members

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I work at an Architectural firm, I played Semi pro football for 4 years, and I love traveling any chance I get. I love hunting! In the fall, winter and spring you can always catch me in the woods hunting Whitetail Deer, Black bear, and Wild Turkey!

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
Deadlifting 500# at the mock powerlifting competition!

*Some current training goals are…
For a big guy it is hard to throw my weight around so I would say my gymnastic movements are what I would love to work on.

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
KEEP UP THE FIGHT! NEVER QUIT!

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
Coaches: What made you decide to go into CrossFit and why did you want to become a coach?

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?

*This month’s question is:  What would you do if you won the lottery?
Help out the less fortunate, after buying a Lamborghini.

*What do the coaches say about Osa?
Osa is responsible for bringing us all the C4 we could ever want, helping keep members hyped up all class long and beyond! This guy is quiet, but a consistent presence and a VERY hard worker! He puts his head down and always goes hard in workouts. He knows when he needs progressions and takes cues well to improve. This guy has a great sense of humor, gets along with every single person in class, and is just a generally awesome dude. We appreciate your energy at the 7:30 class, Osa!
