*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I grew up in Hingham and live there now. I swear I moved away and have lived elsewhere for a good chunk of time. I just happened to be looking to buy a place when the perfect condo in Hingham appeared out of nowhere.

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
I am a 6:00pm regular and, unfortunately, rarely get a chance to branch out to other classes. Rumor has it that is the class with the most personality though. The members and coaches are easily the best part of Craic. But I know everyone says that, so I also want to add that going to Craic is the best way to avoid the 5:00pm rush hour traffic back to the South Shore.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I used to be a middle school Spanish teacher, but now work at Cramer right down the street with some other fellow Craic members. Both my dad and my (older, less funny) sister go to Craic as well. I recently started playing golf – it’s the most frustrating sport on the planet, but I can’t get enough of it!

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
I am pretty impressed with myself that I can deadlift 2x my bodyweight!

*Some current training goals are…
I am the queen of business casual, but lately (as Sara knows and checks in on the regular) I have actually been ‘trying hard.’ I think I’ll keep up this whole trying hard thing…for now. I also want to be able to string bar muscle-ups together, and ultimately get a ring muscle-up. One day!

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
Comparison is the thief of joy
Custard? Good! Jam? Good! Meat? Goooood!

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
How am I Member of the Month before Giorgio?!

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?
If you’re looking for that push you need to get yourself to the gym and get a good workout in every single time, Craic is the answer… not crack though, that’s not the answer.

*This month’s question is:  If you could go back and live in any time period, which would it be and why?
I think I would have to go with Ancient Greece. To be able to wear a comfy tunic/toga and a cute little ivy crown every day, sign me up!

*What do the coaches say about Shawna?
Shawna is awesome!  She makes everyone in class feel welcome and is always a friendly face to see!  Over the years, Shawna has used the gym for different avenues of fitness along her journey.  Starting with CrossFit, moving to powerlifting at OG, now back to the class routine with her friends. Shawna shows up even when she know it’s gonna be a challenging day and giving it her best effort.  We’re psyched to see Shawna continuing to “try hard” and push herself.  The results are showing and we can’t wait to see more!  Felicidades, Shawna!  😉

*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I am originally from Bedford, MA. My wife and I now live in West Roxbury. We have been in that area for the last 15 years.

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
I mostly work out at the 6:15 a.m. class.  Depending on my schedule, I sometimes go to the Noon class.  I also try to hit Saturday Tuckfit when I can.  I heard there are afternoon and evening classes, but I have never been.  So to all those that go to those classes – hello!  My favorite part of being a member is the great people I have met and the overall positive atmosphere.  Everyone wants everyone to succeed.  I learn something at almost every workout which speaks volumes to the great coaches.  They have completely changed the way I look at working out and a healthy lifestyle.  Craic is my safe haven, when I walk in I check everything at the door – work, life, stress, cell phone.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I’m not sure I am that interesting.  I work for Hunter Industries.  We manufacturer residential, commercial, and golf irrigation components as well as low-voltage landscape lighting.  The company is based in San Diego and I’m in sales covering a little territory from Eastern Canada down to Delaware, which means I spend way to much time traveling.  If you don’t know me, just look for a guy wearing a t-shirt with some sort of sprinkler on it because those are the only t-shirts I own, except for 2 Craic T’s.  My wife and I spend a lot of time on the cape in the summer.  I love to hang out at the beach with friends.  I am a big fan of golf, although you wouldn’t know it by my handicap.

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
2 Ring and 1 Bar MU.  Man those felt good.  Really what I am most proud of is knowing more about my potential.  Craic has pushed me to levels that I didn’t know I had.  Reaching those levels has given me confidence both inside the gym and out.

*Some current training goals are…
I have some serious lower body flexibility issues.  I really want to overcome that.  I’m thinking Lacey Mallet level flexibility.  I want to be able to do a proper front squat without feeling like my hips, groin, knees are going to explode.

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
Work hard, push through, feel good.
Experience the journey, relish the destination.

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
Afternoon Class Attendees:  When do you nap?

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?
Jarrod told me almost 4 years ago when I signed up that Craic was different than most CrossFit Gyms.  He said something along the lines of Craic is not a CrossFit Gym, it is a lifestyle gym that does CrossFit.  It is for everyone.  My experience has shown that to be 100% true.   Craic will revolutionize the way you look at working out.  Don’t be intimidated by workouts.  Push yourself, but know your limits, scale to master form, ask for guidance, and most of all, have fun.  Jarrod, Sara, Marc, Giorgio and the rest of the coaching staff have such passion for what they do and I guarantee you will benefit from it.

*This month’s question is:  If you could go back and live in any time period, which would it be and why?
I’d go to the mid to late 1700’s so I could witness the birth of this great nation.

*What do the coaches say about Jim?
Jim is a real pleasure to have at Craic!  On a daily basis, he understands the workouts, evaluates them for himself, and knows what he wants to get out of each one!  He understands what he wants to work on and chips away at those pieces everyday. He’s a great athlete to coach.  Over the years, he has been dedicated to keeping it moving!  He brings a quiet confidence with him to every class.  He’s also very funny and is a great guy to chat with!  Thank you, Jim, for showing up ready to get after it!
