*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Springfield, MA and currently live in Dedham.

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
I workout at 5:15am. My favorite part of being part of CRAIC is all the members. We have the greatest people that go to our gym and I have made many friends over the years.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I am currently battling a Stance Socks addiction. When I am not in Dedham, I am probably at my place in Provincetown stopping traffic with my enormous calves.

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
The proudest moment this past training season was while at the CRASH-B’s, seeing 3 of my squad mates each get 4 second PR’s on their 2k’s.

*Some current training goals are…
I would like to get a sub 1:22 on my 500m.

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
Embrace the erg and love pain.

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?
New members should not compare themselves to anyone else at the gym!! Focus on you!!

*This month, we have a few bonus questions!:
*Some of our members find themselves in a rut from time to time… what resources might you suggest to help get themselves out of it?

Just go to the gym and do something. It does not have to be the WOD, but just get there.

*How do you find yourself riding the waves of the changes over the years at the gym (owners, coaches, locations, programming, etc)? How do you embrace change?
Change in life is inevitable so I had roll with it and it all worked out for best. There is room at the gym for the rowing club!

*What’s the song or artist that gets you the MOST fired up to work out? And can you explain how it makes you feel?
Stevie Nicks “Edge of Seventeen” makes me feel 40 years again!

*What do the coaches say about Anthony?
Anthony is one of the most welcoming people at the gym!  He’s so encouraging and when you achieve something you’re really proud of, he is genuinely proud and happy for you too!  He is so supportive of all of the rowers and at rowing events, even when he is competing, his first priority is making sure everyone else is okay.  He’s a character, and sometimes you can hear him before you see him (OH GAWD), but the gym wouldn’t be the same without him!  We love you, Bro!

*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. We now live in Dorchester.

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
I used to be a die hard 5:30 AM (COD) member, but now I drop in where my schedule allows.
My favorite part of Craic is the community. Our entire family has been fortunate to make some beautiful friendships that extend beyond the Craic walls.  I also appreciate the dedication and commitment of the coaching team.  I can’t wait to see what they all do next to bring Craic to the next level.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I am the Director of Operations for Baraka Community Wellness; we provide wellness solutions for at-risk individuals and communities.
I am driven by the happiness of the people that I love. There is nothing in this world that means more to me than my family and friends.

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
My proudest accomplishment has been finally landing chest to bars and snatching 120. I have to add I got my C2Bs during the Open and my kids were cheering for me. That felt amazing!

*Some current training goals are…
Right now I am working on HSPUs and Bar Muscle Ups.

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
“Your way isn’t the only way”  This reminds me to open my mind to different ideas and opinions, especially while raising a teenager.  I have to try to see the world through different lenses.

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
How do coaches stay motivated with their own development and goals?

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?
Give it a try. The hardest part is actually walking through door. I had a false perception of what to expect before I joined.

*This month, we have a few bonus questions!:
*Some of our members find themselves in a rut from time to time… what resources might you suggest to help get themselves out of it?
I have found myself in this place several times over the course of my six years; life gets in the way sometimes. My suggestion is to talk to the coaches and ask for help in setting a new goal. Goal setting has been a solid way for me to find motivation. Also, peer support… reaching out to one of my Craic friends to also ask for help. Something like, “Hey what days and times are you working out – I need to get back into it?”

*How do you find yourself riding the waves of the changes over the years at the gym (owners, coaches, locations, programming, etc)? How do you embrace change?
I try to keep a positive attitude. I have found that nothing good comes from being negative. I try to remind myself of that in all aspects of my life.

*What’s the song or artist that gets you the MOST fired up to work out? And can you explain how it makes you feel?
I love everything DJ KHALED – I especially love “ All I do is Win”!  When that song comes on it’s time to get it done.

*What do the coaches say about Carleen?
Carleen is a rock and a role-model at the gym.  She’s always lifting people up and supporting other members any chance she can get.  She works her ass off and is willing to do what it takes to get better.  Carleen is also one of the most supportive and welcoming people at the gym.  She always knows when to say or text the right thing, and we’re sure she’s brightened many of our days on various occasions.  She’s such a great team player; during the Olympics she was put in events where she became a leader and was able to carry the team along, even when she was not super comfortable with her assigned events, and she never complained and just showed up and crushed it.  She can always tell when someone new is nervous, and she takes them under her wing in partner workouts and makes sure they feel comfortable.  Also, obviously, she’s a the “baddest bitch” around and we love her!
