*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I’m originally from Orange County, CA and now I live in Boston.

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
I work out at 4:30….when I can get there on time. And I do TuckFit when I have Saturdays off.
My favorite part of being a CRAIC member is being part of the community we have- especially the people I work out with in the afternoon.  It’s a cliche answer, but it’s true. I drive by a lot of gyms to get to CRAIC for a reason.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I’ve been a hockey coach for 15 years and this is the first season I’m taking off. So somebody give me some new hobbies!

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
I’ve had different “phases” of training over the years at CRAIC. A few years ago I was pumped to learn Olympic lifts and muscle ups, but now I’m most pleased with my consistency in coming all the time and being able to stack up well on any given day against some of the better guys/girls we have here.

*Some current training goals are…
I’m trying to focus more on doing things right instead of fast, which means scaling more workouts than I would have when I was a newer member.

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
It’s not possible to fail burpees.
Fitness feels better than bread tastes.
But
Beer tastes better than fitness feels!

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
Coaches, who are your favorite members?  Who would you get rid of?  I’ll wait for a private email you don’t have to post it 😉

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?
Thinking back to when I was new, some things helped more than others. Keep showing up.  Don’t “get in shape” before you commit to the gym. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, as in, a week of bad training or a weekend of bad eating doesn’t have to derail you. And sleep. My first coaches taught me about recovery and weight loss and everything else that sleep facilitates. So make it a priority.

*This month’s question is: Who’s your celebrity crush and where would you take them if you could go on one hypothetical date??
How famous do you have to be to be a celebrity?  This rotates for me, I fall in love every other week. Right now I’d say Katie Toupin, who’s a musician. And we’d go to the zoo to see the penguins because they mate for life and I’m tryina lock that down.

*What do the coaches say about Sheehy?
Sheehy, aka Tom Cruise, plays it cool, but works his as off, especially when there’s a barbell involved.  Sheehy is definitely in the running for “Best Hair” and is tied with Kyle for “Most Likely to Wear Sunglasses Inside”.  Sheehy is always working hard and has fun with his workouts.  He takes cues really well and we love watching him get after it, especially on benchmark days and squat days!  He also knows when to slow himself down to really train and then when to really push it in class.  Overall, he’s a good dude that we look forward to having in class all the time!  He’s put in work during this No Bread and we’re pumped to see the efforts pay off!  Keep it up, Sheehy!

*Where are you originally from and where do you live now?
I’m from Dedham and still live there. I guess you could say I’m a townie!

*When do you workout?  And what’s your favorite part of being a member of CRAIC?
I workout at 4:30 and my favorite part about being a member at CRAIC is getting to see my “people” every day. (You all know who you are…especially my Katelyn!) There’s a special place in my heart for that girl! She, along with many others have pushed me and believed in me when I thought I couldn’t do something or was crying and struggling during a workout. I love that about Craic members.

*Anything interesting you’d like to share about yourself (job/hobbies/fun facts/family, etc.)?
I’m addicted to Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bars. It’s a problem.

*Your proudest accomplishment(s) in training so far are…
My proudest accomplishment so far is probably my abs. It’s really all I have so I take good, good care of them 😉

*Some current training goals are…
My current training goal is to get super ripped. My long-term goal is to strengthen/build my posterior chain.

*What’s the best advice you have in six words (or less)?  You may submit multiple answers.  For example, “You can always take another step.”  Or, “Bring your weather to the picnic.”  Or, “Remember, french fries are gluten free.”
“The secret is consistency”
“Dial in your diet.”
And as my son Dan DeRoma always says… “Don’t be soft.”

*Do you have any questions you’d like to ask the coaches or the members?
I would like to ask how I got picked for this… because recently I got in big trouble for drawing all over the floor with chalk. Sorry about that!

*Based on your experience at Craic, what advice do you have for new members or people who are looking to join the gym?
Just keep showing up. Put in the work. The coaches are great and you will learn so much.

*This month’s question is: Who’s your celebrity crush and where would you take them if you could go on one hypothetical date??
My celebrity crush would be THOR. Not the guy who plays him, but the actual character THOR. If we had to go on a date I would probably take him to the gym and ask him to do drop-sets with me and “Team Size Matters!”

*What do the coaches say about Andrea?
Andrea has the best Oly form in the gym and has an equal skill with digital design.  As one of the most abstract members of the gym, she brings a range of encouragement, humor, and inappropriateness to the 4:30 class that we’ve all come to love.  She’s a real firecracker to have in class and always wants to push herself and encourage others.  Andrea works hard every day during the workout, and then equally hard trying to get a pump after class!  And her abs really are legendary.  Keep being you, Andrea; we love it!
